Lamar Fun Fest Face Painting

October 18,  2014

The Art Club has done face painting at the Lamar Fun Fest many times in the past.  Fun Fest, held Saturday in mid-October every year, is a community Halloween festival which takes place inside of Lamar Elementary. Many organizations from our schools host activities targeted toward small children, such as ring toss , cake walk, and, of course, face painting.  We are happy each year we can to volunteer to do face painting; children love to have their faces painted, and even though the designs are simple and rushed, their excitement is always a reward.

Every year local artists and art club members from our district come to the Crazy Water Festival in the early morning to spend a few hours adorning sidewalk squares with their chalk art.  Supplies are provided, every artist is given a free t-shirt for participating and has a chance to win a prize in the contest for best square.

Public Library Train Project

January-March, 2014

Boyce Ditto Public Library contacted the Art Club early September 2013 with a job request.  The Art Club happily volunteered and after completing several projects, we began working on tranforming this approximately twelve foot long wooden train, originally clad in bright, neon colors, into the Hogworts Express in early January. After many tiring hours after school every day, it was finished in late March.  The train now sits atop the center bookshelves in the children's section of the library.

Scarborough Faire

April, 2012

Scarborough Faire, (2012)

Near the end of every year the Art Club travels to Waxahachie, Texas for the Scarborough Faire, a traveling renaissance festival.  Faire employees remain in character to give fairegoers the feel of the renaissance period. There are hundreds of shops to browse at the faire, including leather goods, jewelery, tailoring, and multiple events to spectate and some to take part in, such as jousting, fencing, and turtle racing.  Art Club members are free to roam about the faire for the duration of the visit.
